Biography

Gargi Mukherji is a Professor and the Director of Clinical Simulation at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. With a DDS degree from Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry, graduated in 2000, she completed her General Practice Residency at UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston in 2001. Dr. Mukherji has over ten years of experience in private practice before transitioning into academia, where she has developed a passion for teaching. She is actively involved in patient care with a focus on treating medically compromised patients, conducting faculty practice twice a week. Dr. Mukherji's research interests include pediatric and adult care for medically compromised patients. She is an instructor for Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support. In recognition of her contributions, she received the Dean’s Excellence Award for Teaching and Innovation in 2013 and the Dean’s Excellence Award for Mentoring in 2022. Dr. Mukherji has served as a reviewer for over 300 peer-reviewed journal articles in oral surgery, oral medicine, and oral pathology and has presented at numerous dental conferences. Additionally, she is a co-inventor of the safety device 'Airway Armor,' designed to prevent accidental aspiration of foreign objects in the oral cavity.
