Biography

Garrett Brown is a Certified Industrial Hygienist with a Master of Public Health degree from UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health. With over 20 years of experience, he worked as a field compliance officer for the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA), eventually serving as the Special Assistant Chief of the Division. In 1993, he volunteered as the Coordinator of the Maquiladora Health & Safety Network, where he organized workplace safety projects for worker community organizations in Mexico, Central America, Indonesia, China, and Bangladesh. He is currently an Affiliate Faculty member at UC Berkeley, where he teaches courses on global occupational health with a specific focus on the well-being of workers in global supply chains.
