Garry E. Gold, M.D., is a clinical radiologist and active investigator specializing in patient-oriented research. He completed his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in 1988 and earned his medical degree in 1992 from Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Gold began his residency in the Stanford Department of Radiology in 1993 and completed an NCI Cancer Imaging Fellowship from 1995 to 1997 under the supervision of Dr. Albert Macovski. He became a board-certified radiologist and an Osteoradiology Fellow at the University of California, San Diego, in 1998-1999. He was appointed Assistant Professor in the Stanford Department of Radiology in January 2000 and became Associate Professor in 2006. Dr. Gold was promoted to Professor in 2012, also holding courtesy appointments in Bioengineering and Orthopaedic Surgery. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles and holds eight patents. Dr. Gold has been recognized for his contributions to the field, being awarded the ISMRM Lauterbur Award, named Fellow of ISMRM, and Faculty of the Year for the Stanford Department of Radiology. His research emphasizes osteoarthritis and the development of translational MRI technology and functional imaging approaches using PET-MRI.
