Dr. Garry Gray

Biography

Garry Gray is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Victoria. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Toronto, where he also earned a Master's degree in Criminology and an Honours Bachelor's degree with a double major in Criminology and Sociology. Prior to his current position, Gray was a research fellow at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard Law School and conducted extensive research on social organization and unethical behavior across various institutions affecting public trust. His research interests encompass Criminology, institutional corruption, regulation, compliance, behavioral ethics, organizational culture, health and safety, and qualitative methods including ethnography. Gray's work has been published in numerous prestigious journals including the American Journal of Sociology and the British Journal of Criminology. He has also contributed to several books and guides, providing insights into compliance and regulatory engagement. His recent publications address themes such as public health ethical responsibilities, industry influence on clinical trial reporting, and institutional corruption in Canadian universities.
