Dr. Gary Bennett

Biography

Gary Bennett, Ph.D., is the Dean of the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences at Duke University, a position he has held since 2023. He is also a Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, a role he has occupied since 2014, and has affiliations as a Research Professor in Global Health since 2011 and an Associate Professor in Medicine since 2012. His work focuses on the intersections of psychology, global health, and medicine, emphasizing the importance of a world-class liberal arts education and a nurturing environment for a diverse faculty. Throughout his career, he has contributed significantly to understanding mental health, particularly in collegiate settings, and has been involved in research aimed at improving health outcomes through digital interventions. His education includes a Ph.D. from Duke University and a B.A. from Morehouse College. He is also affiliated with programs aimed at interdisciplinary training in child psychiatric neurodevelopmental conditions.
