Dr. Gary Dumbrill

Biography

Gary Dumbrill is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work at McMaster University. His research interests primarily encompass child welfare and anti-racist/anti-oppressive practices. Dumbrill's work critically examines how child welfare systems are influenced by these perspectives, reflecting his twelve years of experience in the British and Canadian child protection systems. His approach often employs Participatory Action research, focusing on in-depth qualitative methodologies to engage with the communities affected by social work interventions.
