Biography

Gary T. Jones is a successful professional and valued alumnus of Georgia Tech, who has generously given his time, energy, and financial resources to support the Georgia Tech community and inspire countless others to follow his lead. Upon graduating from Georgia Tech, Jones earned his MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. In 1974, he started his career at the investment banking firm Donaldson, Lufkin, & Jenrette (DLJ) in sales and trading. In 1978, he moved to L. F. Rothschild, where he worked for 10 years as the youngest partner in charge of High Grade Corporate Bond Trading Sales. In 1988, he returned to DLJ as a global sales manager for the Fixed Income Division. DLJ eventually merged with Credit Suisse Boston, which operates in 50 countries with over 60,880 employees. After retiring as a senior managing director at Credit Suisse, Jones launched his new career as a Professor of Practice in Finance, teaching a course at the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Tech. He has served as Chairman of the Board for the Georgia Tech Foundation and as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.
