Biography

Gary Kopf is a Board Certified Cardiothoracic surgeon with over 30 years of experience in adult and pediatric cardiac surgery. He graduated from Columbia College with a major in Physics and earned his medical degree from Harvard University, graduating cum laude. He completed his training in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery at Brigham Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital Boston. Kopf has spent significant time at the National Institutes of Health researching perinatal physiology and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association for Thoracic Surgery and the Society of Thoracic Surgery. Recognized multiple times in America’s Top Doctors and America’s Top Surgeons, Kopf has a strong interest in biomedical ethics, serving on ethics committees at Yale-New Haven Hospital and involved in technology ethics discussions. Additionally, he has received the Health Ethics Consultant certification (HEC-C) and has been awarded the Peace Medal by the International Physicians for Prevention of Nuclear War. His clinical interests include Cardiac Surgery, Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Adult Congenital Heart Surgery, and Aortic Surgery.
