Biography

Gary Kuchar is a distinguished professor at the University of Victoria specializing in Renaissance Literature, particularly the poetic and prose traditions of the Seventeenth Century. With advanced degrees from McMaster University, Kuchar is a noted scholar who has authored several influential monographs and contributed to key anthologies, like the Oxford History of Poetry in English and the Cambridge Companion to Shakespeare and Religion. His research focuses on literary and critical theory, intellectual history, Reformation culture, and Shakespeare's influence. Kuchar’s courses explore major literary figures such as John Milton and examine the interplay of literary arts and cultural history, emphasizing the impact of these works on modern thought.
