Biography

After spending 10 years working as a gold geologist, Gary Linassi's interests turned toward medicine. He completed medical school in Ireland at University College Cork, part of the National University of Ireland. His residency brought him back to Saskatoon, where he completed the training requirements for his specialty in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Prior to his academic appointment at the University of Saskatchewan, he worked at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre. He has held several administrative positions, including Director of Undergraduate and Post Graduate education programs and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education, as well as Provincial Department Head. His clinical interests focus primarily on neuro-rehabilitation, particularly in the areas of Spinal Cord Injury and ALS, and he provides care for people with amputations. His research interests align with his clinical focus, showcasing his passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and advocating on their behalf as a physiatrist.
