Biography

Professor Natriello holds an A.B. in English from Princeton University, an A.M. in sociology from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in sociology of education from Stanford University. He is the Ruth L. Gottesman Professor of Educational Research at Teachers College, Columbia University, where he teaches graduate courses focused on assessment processes, meritocracy, responsible use of data, research methods, and the social dimensions of online learning. Additionally, he serves as Chair of the Department of Human Development and as the Program Director for both the Learning Analytics Program and the Data, Learning and Society Program. His research interests include school organization, social aspects of evaluation processes, at-risk youth, and the sociology of online learning. Professor Natriello has authored several books and articles, addressing themes such as creating learning settings and utilizing learning analytics to drive change in education.
