Biography

Gary Schwartz has over 60 years of professional experience, showcasing his talents across clubs, concert halls, and television shows. He has played a wide range of music styles, including ethnic R&B, contemporary, and classical music, performing with notable ensembles like the Montreal Symphony and Hamilton Symphony Orchestras, as well as various jazz big bands. Since 1990, he has participated in international touring productions such as Les Miserables, Showboat, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and the musical Beautiful. Schwartz has led jazz groups and has been involved in award-winning projects like LETTINGO-The Music Influence of Ornette Coleman, for which he earned a grant from the Montreal Arts Council. His achievements include winning the Opus award from the Societe Quebecoise de la Musique Concert Year. Additionally, he has been featured in renowned jazz magazines and received the CUPFA Artistic Achievement Award from Concordia University for his contributions to the arts. Throughout his career, he has continued to refine his craft and engage in performance, including the releases of his own CDs. He has also contributed to the arts community through mentorship and digital recording programs at Concordia University.
