Born in Buenos Aires, Gastón Adrián Crespo Paravano studied Chemistry at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where he received his Licentiate degree from 1999 to 2005. He then moved to the Rovira Virgili University in Tarragona, Spain, acquiring a Master's degree in Nanotechnology and Nanoscience and doctoral degrees in 2007 and 2010, respectively. After that, he joined Professor Eric Bakker's group at the University of Geneva in Switzerland as a postdoctoral assistant from 2011 to 2013. In 2017, Crespo Paravano was appointed to a tenure-track assistant professorship at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden, where he was promoted to associate professor in 2020 and to full professor in 2024. His research interests encompass electroanalytical chemistry, membrane transport, the development of electrochemical techniques, electrochemiluminescence optical sensors, and environmental and biomedical applications, as well as triggered devices and synchrotron characterization. He has co-authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and holds patents, in addition to being a co-founder of several spin-off companies.
