Biography

Gaurav S. Sukhatme is a Professor in the Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science and the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC). He is also the Director of the USC School of Advanced Computing and served as the Executive Vice Dean of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. Sukhatme holds the Donald M. Alstadt Chair in Advanced Computing and was the Chairman of the USC Computer Science department from 2012 to 2017. He has a strong background in computer science engineering, holding B.S. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from USC. His research interests focus on networked robots, learning robots, and field robotics, where he has made significant contributions, including leadership roles in various robotics labs and extensive publications. Sukhatme has also been the principal investigator for numerous grants from organizations such as NSF, DARPA, and NASA. He is a Fellow of AAAS, AAAI, and IEEE, and has received multiple prestigious awards throughout his career, including the NSF CAREER award and the Okawa Foundation research award.
