Dr. Geeta Swamy

Biography

Geeta Swamy, MD, Haywood Brown, MD Distinguished Professor Women’s Health, serves as the Executive Vice Dean for Clinical Sciences & Research Administration at Duke University School of Medicine and the Associate Vice President for Research at Duke University. Dr. Swamy oversees central operations aligned with clinical departments and research centers, facilitating research priorities and collaborations. She manages research administration compliance and works closely with the leadership of Duke Health Integrated Practice and the Duke University Health System. As a highly accomplished clinician-scientist, her research focuses on perinatal infection, maternal immunization, and complications of pregnancy. Dr. Swamy has held various critical positions, including Vice Dean and Associate Vice Provost for Scientific Integrity, and has contributed immensely to advancing the integrity of research practices at her institution. Her extensive involvement in numerous professional activities highlights her commitment to improving maternal and infant health, especially in the context of public health initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic.
