Biography

Gemma Ryde is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Her research focuses on the role of physical activity in health, having completed her PhD at the University of Queensland in 2013, where she investigated sitting time among Australian office employees. Prior to her academic career, Gemma worked for several years on community health promotion initiatives and community development in Scotland, with a focus on encouraging walking in deprived areas. Her research interests include Metabolic Disease, Lifestyle and Sports & Exercise, Cognitive Impairment & Dementia, and Pregnancy Complications.
