Biography

Genevieve Fuji Johnson studies and teaches feminist political thought with an emphasis on racialized and minoritized critical scholars, solidaristic scholarship, democratic theory, interpretive policy analysis, and qualitative methodology, focusing on current public policy issues. As a sex worker rights activist, educator, and writer, her research includes governance of sex work in Canadian cities. She has a forthcoming book project titled 'Red Umbrella: Sex Solidarity!' from University of Toronto Press. Her work addresses discriminatory practices and policies in Canadian universities, centering the experiences of racialized and minoritized people as sources of knowledge transformation. Johnson has received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. She is also an Associate at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue and the Institute for Governance & Policy Analysis at the University of Canberra and serves on various boards and committees, including being the past president of the Canadian Political Science Association for the academic year 2023-2024.
