Biography

Genevieve Quick is an interdisciplinary artist and arts writer whose work explores themes of global identity politics through speculative narratives and media-based practices. Her humorous science fiction narratives exaggerate diasporic identity and intergalactic addresses, highlighting issues of Otherness and displacement. Quick has exhibited her work at renowned venues including NTU CCA in Singapore, Wattis Institute in San Francisco, Asian Cultural Center in Gwangju, South Korea, and the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. Additionally, her works have been showcased at Mills College Art Museum in Oakland, Royal Nonsuch Gallery, and Southern Exposure. Quick has been awarded various visual arts residencies such as at Headlands Center for the Arts, Recology, MacDowell, Djerassi, deYoung Museum, and Yaddo. She has also received multiple grants, including from the San Francisco Arts Commission and the Fleishhacker Foundation. Her writings are featured in several publications, including 48 Hills, Artforum, cmagazine, Art Practical, Daily Serving, and Temporary Art Review.
