Biography

Genevieve Scott is a Clinical Lecturer in Law and an Associate Research Scholar at Yale Law School, where she also serves as a Senior Fellow in the Program for the Study of Reproductive Justice. Her work focuses on reproductive rights, where she has played a pivotal role in developing legal strategies across the United States. Scott has successfully led constitutional challenges against federal administrative barriers to reproductive health care access, including restrictions related to religious refusals. She has also been an advisor for various federal and state legislative efforts aimed at codifying protections for reproductive autonomy, such as the Women’s Health Protection Act and Michigan's Reproductive Freedom state constitutional amendment. Before joining Yale, she served as senior counsel at the U.S. Litigation Center for Reproductive Rights and worked as an attorney at the ACLU of Michigan and an associate at Mayer Brown LLP. Additionally, Scott clerked for the Honorable Helene N. White at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, bringing a wealth of legal experience to her academic role.
