Professor Dr. Gennady Pekhimenko

Biography

Gennady Pekhimenko is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Toronto. His research interests lie in computer architecture, systems, and applied machine learning, with a major focus on efficient memory systems and machine learning systems. Pekhimenko leads an EcoSystem research group and is a faculty member of the Vector Institute. He has contributed extensively to various funded research projects by prominent organizations, including Amazon, Facebook, and NVIDIA, and has affiliations with the CIFAR AI Chair. He completed his PhD in the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University under the supervision of Professors Todd Mowry and Onur Mutlu. Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous academic conferences, receiving various accolades for his research work. He has served in various roles, including Program Committee member and reviewer for multiple prestigious conferences and journals. His leadership in research extends to mentoring numerous graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. Pekhimenko's publications include significant contributions in optimizing machine learning frameworks and benchmarking deep neural network training.
