Biography

Gennady Poda is an expert in computational drug discovery, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto and as a Scientific Advisor Group Leader at the Ontario Institute of Cancer Research (OICR). His specialization includes computational chemistry and cheminformatics, focusing on modern computational drug discovery approaches. Further, Poda's team has been instrumental in identifying therapeutics for repurposing existing drugs to treat COVID-19, receiving funding from Ontario's COVID-19 Rapid Research Fund. He has authored or co-authored over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and holds seven patents, recognized by awards such as the OICR Extra Mile Award and Innovative Spirit Awards for his contributions in cheminformatics. Poda obtained his M.Sc. in Molecular Chemical Physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and a PhD in Bioorganic Chemistry from the Institute for Bioorganic and Petrochemistry, National Academy of Sciences in Kiev, Ukraine.
