Geoff completed his MSci in Chemistry with a specialization in Bioorganic Chemistry at the University of Birmingham. He then moved to the University of Glasgow in 2002 to undertake a PhD focused on inorganic transition metal cluster chemistry. Following a brief research position at Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands, he returned to Glasgow to work in the field of complex systems chemistry and inorganic biology. His research interests focus on non-linear systems chemistry and synthetic biology engineering, with a particular interest in self-organizing and self-growing materials, as well as the complexification of chemistry from simple starting materials to the origins of life.
