Biography

Geoff Higgins is the Malcolm & Margaret Howat Professor of Clinical Oncology at the University of Oxford, where he specializes in enhancing the efficacy of radiotherapy treatments. He earned his degrees in pharmacology in 1997 and medicine in 2000 from Edinburgh University, followed by specialist training at Edinburgh Cancer Centre. He later moved to Oxford, gaining a Royal College of Radiologists/CRUK Clinical Research Fellowship, culminating in a DPhil in 2010. His research encompasses both laboratory and clinical domains, focusing on improving radiotherapy treatment approaches by repurposing existing compounds and developing innovative therapies to optimize combinatorial treatments. Currently, he serves as the Chief Investigator of clinical trials and acts as a joint lead investigator for the CRUK National Cancer Imaging Translational Accelerator. His contributions to the field have positioned him as a leader in translating laboratory discoveries into clinical applications. Throughout his career, he has guided numerous research students and has significantly influenced both his present and former team members' careers in oncology research.
