Geoff Rideout is a professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He graduated from Memorial's mechanical engineering class in 1993. After graduation, he worked at Northern Telecom as a manufacturing process engineer in Ottawa and later as a building systems designer at MCW Consultants in Toronto. He then joined DY4 Systems in Ottawa as a research engineer. Geoff completed his Master’s in Applied Science at Queen’s University in 1998, focusing on experimental testing and mathematical modeling of automobile suspension components. Subsequently, he pursued his PhD at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, specializing in modeling and simulation of dynamic systems for military vehicle applications. After completing his PhD, he served as a post-doctoral fellow and lecturer at the University of Michigan’s Automated Modeling Laboratory before teaching in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Humber College in Toronto. After joining Memorial, he established a research program focused on vehicle dynamics, modeling, simulation, and vibrations related to oilwell drilling and non-destructive testing using modal analysis.
