Dr. Geoff Webb

Biography

Geoff Webb is an Australian Laureate Fellow and a leading data scientist in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). He has served as the Australian Program Committee Chair for major data mining conferences such as ACM SIGKDD and IEEE ICDM. In recognition of his contributions, Geoff was elevated to IEEE Fellow in 2015 and has received numerous awards, including the inaugural Eureka Prize for Excellence in Data Science in 2017. Geoff has been the editor-in-chief for Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery from 2005 to 2014. He has served as a Technical Advisor for BigML Inc., where he was involved in developing class association discovery software known as Magnum Opus, a key component of cloud-based machine learning services. Geoff's research spans several areas, including scalable learning algorithms, time series classifiers, and interactive data analytics, with a strong emphasis on machine learning and data science applications.
