Dr. Geoffrey Delaney

Biography

Professor Geoffrey Delaney is an experienced Radiation Oncologist with significant expertise in breast cancer, radiation oncology, and health services research. He holds a PhD and an MD and directs Cancer Services at the South Western Sydney Local Health District and the Liverpool Cancer Centre. With over 260 publications and numerous successful grants from NHMRC, MRFF, ACRF, and the NSW Cancer Institute, his research focuses on employing evidence-based medicine to understand and address the disparities in treatment practices. He has been involved in establishing the Collaboration Cancer Outcomes Research Evaluation (CCORE), which has operated for 22 years and contributed to over 150 publications and reports. His international collaborations extend to research groups in the UK, Canada, and Australia, and he has played a key role in clinical research related to breast cancer radiotherapy, including the development of an incident reporting tool. Professor Delaney also co-led the PROMPT-Care initiative, which rolled out an electronic tool for capturing Patient Reported Outcome Measures. His extensive experience includes supervising radiation therapy candidates and serving on editorial boards for oncology journals.
