Biography

Prof. Georg Sigl’s research focuses on hardware security, particularly in designing secure circuits for embedded systems and investigating new hardware attacks. He earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich in 1992. Following his doctoral studies, he worked in research and development positions at Siemens and Infineon, and from 2000 to 2010, he was responsible for the development of secure microcontroller platforms in the Chip Card Security division. In June 2010, he established a new chair in Security at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Technical University of Munich while simultaneously directing the research on embedded security at the Fraunhofer Research Institute for Applied Integrated Security in Munich (AISEC).
