Biography

George-Cristian Potrivitu is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, specializing in Plasma Physics and Satellite Electric Propulsion. He was born in Romania and studied at the Military Technical Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering in 2014. After becoming an officer in the Romanian Air Force, he pursued a Master's degree in Space Systems Engineering in 2016 and later began his PhD in Physics at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore in January 2018. Potrivitu co-founded Aliena Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based space technology company that focuses on developing satellite plasma engines. His research interests include Hall Effect Thrusters, electrical propulsion systems, and plasma diagnostic techniques. He has collaborated with international partners on various academic and industrial projects. Additionally, he is passionate about teaching and has strong interests in astronomy, astrophysics, and the philosophy of science, alongside hobbies such as music, art, cooking, and athletics.
