Dr. George Bratsiotis

Biography

George Bratsiotis is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Manchester, with a background in Macroeconomics. He earned his PhD in Economics in 1996, an MSc in Economics in 1991 from Queen Mary College, University of London, and a BA in Economics from Guildhall University in 1990. He joined the University of Manchester in the academic year 1995/96. Bratsiotis has held notable editorial positions, including being the Editor of the Manchester School from 2009 to 2018 and an Associate Editor for Economic Modelling. His research interests include Monetary Policy, Business Cycles, Financial Frictions, and the development of New Keynesian Stochastic Dynamic General Equilibrium Models. He has contributed to various publications in reputable journals such as the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking and the Scandinavian Journal of Economics. He has also supervised numerous PhD students who have taken up significant positions in institutions such as the Bank of England and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Bratsiotis is committed to discussing innovative ideas in macroeconomic research related to open-economy models and engages actively in external collaboration in his field.
