Biography

George graduated from the University of London, Birkbeck College, with a PhD in Finance. He has also earned a Master's degree in Economics from Athens University of Economics & Business. He has been a member of the staff at Cass Business School, City, University of London, and held various positions, including Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Greece. In 2006, he joined Manchester Business School and took a leave of absence from 2009 to 2012 to serve as State Secretary and Chief Executive for Asset Restructuring and Privatisations in Greece. He is currently a member of the Hellenic Corporate Governance Council and has served on the Supervisory Board of ICAP Credit Rating Agency. His research interests include credit market risk, asset risk management, mergers and acquisitions, financial stability regulation, forecasting, and behavioral finance. He has published work on managing risks in the European periphery debt crisis and serves as an editor for various finance journals. George's teaching focuses on asset management, credit risk, market risk, financial engineering, and financial econometrics.
