Biography

George F. Halow is a Professor of Practice in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan. He joined the university in 2019 after a distinguished career at Ford Motor Company, where he held various positions in engineering, manufacturing, and strategy, including Chief Program Engineer for vehicles such as the Expedition, Navigator, and Crown Victoria. At the University of Michigan, he has developed the 'Introduction to Aerospace Enterprise' course aimed at first and second-year students, focusing on the aerospace industry, leadership, culture, communication, and career pathways. He is also launching a groundbreaking Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) course series, which is unique at the undergraduate level and has garnered significant corporate interest and support for the establishment of the MBSE Leadership Lab. Additionally, Professor Halow is the Program Director for a new online Master of Engineering in Aerospace Leadership degree program, set to launch in January 2023. He is a co-author of two patents related to on-vehicle data acquisition and transmission.
