Dr. George Klein

Biography

George J. Klein is a Professor at the Department of Medicine at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. He received his medical degree in 1972 from the University of Toronto and became certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine in 1976, followed by Cardiology in 1978. Since 1993, he has been an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Physiology at Western University. Dr. Klein has a robust research background, having been recognized with the Canadian Cardiovascular Society Research Achievement Award in 1988 and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario's Distinguished Research Professorship award from 1989 to 1994. His research interests focus on cardiac arrhythmias, particularly the natural history and management of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, as well as operative ablative management of arrhythmias and understanding clinical syncope. He is an inventor of the implantable loop recorder and has held editorial positions for various scientific journals. An accomplished educator, Dr. Klein has supervised the arrhythmia training of 65 Research Fellows over his career and has published numerous books, book chapters, and journal articles, holding 12 patents currently.
