Biography

George Lefcoe is the Ervin Florine Yoder Chair Emeritus at USC Gould School of Law, where he has been a Professor of Law specializing in Real Estate since 1962. His expertise encompasses real estate finance, development, and land use planning. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with federal, state, and local governments, as well as firms and foundations in the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan. He authored the widely-used textbook 'Real Estate Transactions, Finance, Development' (Lexis, 2009), which is now in its sixth edition. Lefcoe has also served on various state and local government commissions, including the Regional Planning Commission for Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles Planning Commission. In 1990, he directed the USC Traveling Land Use Seminar, interacting with real estate development professionals and civic leaders in major cities worldwide, from Istanbul to Havana. He regularly participates as a faculty director and panelist in the USC Real Estate Law Business Forum, an annual event attracting leading professionals in the field. Additionally, Lefcoe is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), has presented at local government sections of the American Association of Law Schools (AALS), and delivered the Richard Babcock Memorial Lecture at the annual ALI/ABA Land Use seminar in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in August 2010. He also contributes to the Board of Directors for the Center for Real Estate Studies at New York Law School, with numerous articles published in law journals.
