Biography

George Levesque, Ph.D. (Columbia), is the Senior Associate Dean and Dean of Academic Affairs at Yale College, where he also serves as a Lecturer in History. He supervises fourteen residential college deans and chairs the Committee on Honors and Academic Standing (CHAS), overseeing academic regulations and adjudicating petitions for exceptions to these regulations. His responsibilities include supervising student promotions, degree clearances, and determining student honors, prizes, and distinctions for Commencement. Levesque serves as the Secretary for Yale’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa (Alpha Connecticut) and is a member of the Faculty Committee on Athletics, where he also acts as the Faculty Athletic Representative to the NCAA. He teaches courses on religious thought in American history and the history of American colleges and universities. His research predominantly focuses on the intellectual and cultural history of the United States during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Recent articles include a piece on Elisha Williams in the Dictionary of Early American Philosophers.
