Biography

Professor Shanthikumar has been a member of the Krannert faculty since 2009. Prior to joining Purdue, he served as Chancellor's Professor of Industrial Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests primarily revolve around integrated interdisciplinary decision making, model uncertainty learning, production systems modeling analysis, queueing theory, reliability, scheduling, semiconductor yield management, stochastic processes simulation, and sustainable supply chain management. Throughout his career, he has written and co-written over 250 papers across various topics. Notable works include co-authoring the book 'Stochastic Models Manufacturing Systems' with John Buzacott and multiple books on stochastic orders with Moshe Shaked. He also serves as a co-editor for the 'Flexible Services & Manufacturing Journal' and has been a member of various editorial boards such as the 'Asia-Pacific Journal of Operations Research' and 'IEEE Transactions on Automation Sciences and Engineering'. Additionally, Professor Shanthikumar has consulted extensively for numerous companies including Applied Materials, IBM, and Intel.
