Biography

Georges Kipouros is an accomplished Professor at Dalhousie University with a focus on the sustainable production, processing, manufacturing, and performance of reactive metals. His extensive academic background includes a Postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a tenure as a Senior Research Scientist at General Motors Research Laboratory. Kipouros joined Dalhousie University in 1989 and served as a Professor until 2013, after which he held the position of Dean of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan until 2016. His research primarily explores powder metallurgy of reactive metals, evaluating performance through electrochemical measurements, particularly corrosion. He is also actively involved in current projects investigating the response of materials produced by additive manufacturing to corrosion, and is developing coatings and surface modifications through various plating techniques. Kipouros is recognized as a Fellow of multiple esteemed organizations, including the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, and the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He has received several prestigious awards for his contributions to the field.
