Biography

Georgia Marie Beasley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Duke University and holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Medicine. With a background as a surgeon-scientist, she has a keen focus on clinical translational research, particularly in the area of melanoma. Dr. Beasley completed her MD at Duke University School of Medicine in 2008 and subsequently received a Master’s in Health Science, specializing in clinical research, in 2010. She underwent a general surgical residency at Duke, graduating in 2015, and then completed a fellowship in complex surgical oncology at The Ohio State University in 2017. Since returning to Duke, she became the co-director of the Duke Melanoma Program in 2019. Dr. Beasley has been the principal investigator on over ten therapeutic clinical trials targeting melanoma and novel intratumoral therapies, with her research interests centering on immunologic responses to melanoma and oncolytic viral therapy. She has published approximately 100 papers related to her field and has been awarded several prestigious grants, including the Society of Surgical Oncology's Young Investigator Award and the NIH K08 Mentored Physician Scientist Award.
