Biography

Georgia Malandraki is a Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences at Purdue University with a courtesy appointment at the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering. She is the Research Director of the I-EaT Swallowing Research Laboratory and Clinic and is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist and a Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing Disorders. Her research focuses on uncovering central and peripheral neural mechanisms underlying swallowing function and aims to inform clinical decisions to develop neurophysiologically-driven treatment options for children and adults with dysphagia. Dr. Malandraki is a pioneer in dysphagia telehealth, having led initiatives to establish evidence-based remote rehabilitation approaches for underserved populations. She has received multiple awards for her contributions to research and education, including the 2019 NIH NIBIB R21 Trailblazer Award and several teaching awards at Purdue. Actively engaged in professional societies, she has served on the Editorial Board for leading journals and currently holds the position of President of the Dysphagia Research Society.
