Georgina Gomez is an Associate Professor at the International Institute of Social Studies, part of Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is fascinated by the diverse forms of organizing local economic governance and focuses her research on patterns of collaboration and competition within economic configurations, particularly in the contexts of money, markets, and enterprises. Her work spans complementary currency systems, local markets, and the social economy, placing a strong emphasis on social economy organizations. Gomez approaches these topics from an evolutionary institutional perspective, viewing institutions as essential components that structure socio-economic life.
