George graduated from the Technological Educational Institution of Piraeus, Athens with a B.Sc. in Business Administration. He was employed in the Accounting Department of Greenpeace Greece for two years (1994-1996) where he served as Chief Accountant. Between 1996 and 2002, he successfully completed postgraduate studies at the University of Glasgow, obtaining an MAcc and a Ph.D., which led to his appointment as a Lecturer in 2002. His research focuses on management control, particularly the impact of management control systems on human behaviour in contemporary organizations, and the design of incentive schemes for middle managers. He has received financial support from the CIMA Research Foundation for research on performance measurement systems and the influence of reward systems on middle management motivation. George is a member of the editorial board of the Scientific Touristic Journal, and he reviews papers for leading international accounting journals such as Management Accounting Research and the British Accounting Review. His research interests also encompass business ethics and motivation-related themes.
