Biography

Georgios Machtsiras joined the University of Edinburgh as a Senior Teaching Fellow in January 2015. He previously served as a Lecturer in Biomechanics at Edinburgh Napier University from 2013 to 2015 and worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Edinburgh from 2007 to 2013. Georgios obtained his PhD in Sport Biomechanics from the University of Edinburgh in 2013. He holds an MSc in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics from Manchester Metropolitan University, completed in 2005, and a BSc (Hons) in Physical Education and Sport Science from Aristotle’s University of Thessaloniki, acquired in 2004. His research interests include biomechanics, hydrodynamics, aquatic locomotion, anthropometry, and dance biomechanics, with a focus on understanding the mechanics of movement in these areas.
