Professor Papadopoulos received his degree in Physics from the University of Athens and completed his postgraduate studies with a Diploma of Imperial College (DIC) and a PhD in Mathematics from King’s College London. He has held postdoctoral research positions at Queen Mary College, the Physics Department of King’s College London, and the Mathematics Department of the II Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Hamburg, as well as DESY. He was a Royal Society Research Fellow at Cambridge's Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) and the Mathematics Department of King’s College London. He has been a visiting researcher at CERN, the Max Planck Institute in Golm, and the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. He is a member of the London Mathematical Society and a fellow of the Institute of Physics (IOP). His main research interests lie in Mathematical Theoretical Physics, particularly the applications of Differential Geometry and Algebraic Topology to modern physics. He has worked on General Relativity, Supersymmetric Theories, M-Theory, String Theory, and AdS/CFT Quantum Field Theory, contributing to the classification of supersymmetric solutions in string theories and the investigation of special geometric structures applied to physics. His focus includes Penrose limits of Kerr black holes, the nature of spacetime singularities, and holography in asymptotically flat spacetimes.
