Biography

Georgy Falster is a climate scientist with a primary focus on understanding Earth's water cycle. His PhD research concentrated on reconstructing Australian Quaternary palaeo-environments through palaeolimnology, as well as the stable and clumped isotopic composition of carbonate phases. While completing his doctorate, he held a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Washington University in St. Louis, where he utilized proxy records of stable isotopic composition of environmental waters from the Common Era to investigate changes in global hydroclimate. His work has employed water isotope observations alongside palaeoclimate proxy data to study the variability of tropical Pacific atmospheric circulation over millennia. He has also worked as a Marine Scientist with Geoscience Australia, where he mapped and analyzed seabed morphology. In academia, he supervises research students and has research interests that include developing pre-industrial climatic baselines to assess human impacts on Earth’s climate, with particular emphasis on hydroclimatic variability and the drivers of water cycle variability.
