Biography

Geraint Harvey is the DANCAP Private Equity Chair of Human Organization at Western University. He has held positions in the manufacturing and recruitment sectors and has worked at various UK institutions, including the University of Birmingham and the University of Bristol. Prior to his role at Western University, he was Chair of People and Organisation at Swansea University. Harvey obtained his Master’s degree and doctorate from Cardiff Business School, where he began his academic career. His PhD research, which focused on HRM in the airline industry, was published as a research monograph by Routledge in 2007. His scholarly activities have examined the employment relationship and the evolving nature of work, contributing to debates around HRM ethics, environmental performance of firms, and organised labor's role in corporate social responsibility. His work has influenced national and international policy, reflected in two impact case studies submitted to the UK Research Excellence Framework. Moreover, Harvey has been commissioned for research projects by the International Labour Organisation, the European Commission, and the International Transport Workers’ Federation. He has engaged in global research initiatives, including a study on the Covid-19 impact on labor within air navigation services and ongoing research involving airline pilots in collaboration with the International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations. He is a member of the editorial board for the journal Human Relations.
