Biography

Gerald Bloomfield, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at Duke University and a member of the Duke Clinical Research Institute. He completed his fellowship training in Cardiovascular Medicine at Duke University Medical Center and has a background in Global Health. Bloomfield completed the Duke Global Health Residency/Fellowship Pathway and the Fogarty International Clinical Research Fellowship. He received his medical education, internal medicine residency, and Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. His research focuses on building cardiovascular health capacity in low- and middle-income countries and includes work in under-resourced communities. Bloomfield has previously held positions as Associate Director of Research at the Duke Global Health Institute and has been involved in various academic and research initiatives, including leading interdisciplinary programs and collaborating on health solutions in Madagascar.
