Biography

Gérald Domon is an associate professor at the Faculty of Planning at the Université de Montréal and Associate Scientific Director at the Landscape and Environment Chair of the same institution. Holding a bachelor's degree in biology (plant ecology) and a master's in urban planning, his work initially focused on the assessment and management of natural spaces in urban and peri-urban environments. His doctorate in planning led him to explore the dynamics of rural landscapes. A leading figure in Quebec in applied landscape ecology for land use, he has directed numerous studies on the spatio-temporal dynamics of rural landscapes in southern Quebec, the reconstruction of dynamics in ancient agroforestry territories, and the development of landscape characterization tools. Domon has authored over 220 texts (books, book chapters, scientific articles, etc.), regularly publishing in reputed journals in landscape ecology and rural land management such as Landscape Urban Planning and Landscape Ecology. In addition to theoretical work, he conducts collaborations with municipal and regional organizations and teaches regional space workshops.
