Biography

Gerald Gabrielse is a Board of Trustees Professor of Physics at Northwestern University and the director of the Center for Fundamental Physics at Low Energy (CFP). His research group employs quantum science techniques to conduct precise tests of the Standard Model of particle physics and to search for new physics phenomena. His work includes the ACME experiment, which seeks to measure the electric dipole moment of the electron with unprecedented accuracy, aiming to validate or challenge the predictions made by the Standard Model. Gabrielse's laboratory utilizes advanced technologies such as trapped particles, molecular beams, ultra-low temperatures, and lasers in these endeavors. He has received numerous awards for his exceptional contributions to the field, including being a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, as well as receiving prestigious prizes such as the Norman F. Ramsey Prize and the Julius Lilienfeld Prize from the American Physical Society.
