Biography

Geraldine Knatz is the Geraldine Knatz Professor of Practice Policy Engineering with a joint appointment at the USC Price School of Public Policy and the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering within the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. She has conducted significant research at the METRANS Transportation Center and has held leadership roles in seaport management, including her tenure as the Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles, where she significantly reduced air emissions through the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan. Dr. Knatz has also been the Managing Director of the Port of Long Beach and has participated in numerous national and international engineering boards. She received recognition for her contributions to sustainable port development, including election to the National Academy of Engineering and the Bruckman Award from the Los Angeles Public Library.
