Biography

Géraldine Pflieger is a full professor in urban and environmental policies at the University of Geneva. She led the Institute of Environmental Sciences from 2017 to 2025 and co-directs the UNESCO Chair in Hydro-Politics since 2015. Since 2020, she has been an associate negotiator and representative for science in the Swiss delegation for climate negotiations under the COP framework, nominated by the Swiss Federal Council. She also conducts various advisory and action-research missions in the fields of climate policy, water management policy, and urban policy for international, cantonal, regional, and local institutions in Switzerland and abroad. Her research focuses on climate policies and resource management at local, regional, and international levels, examining urban governance transformations in response to contemporary infrastructure and environmental challenges.
