Biography

After completing training in architecture and urban planning at the University of Montreal, Gérard Beaudet worked as a project manager and then as a senior associate at the Société technique d’aménagement régional inc. (Sotar). He conducted two hundred studies and assessments in urban planning, heritage, and recreational tourism for ministries, government agencies, and local and regional municipalities from 1980 to 1996. Over the last twenty years, Beaudet has published numerous opinion pieces and analyses in Montreal and Quebec newspapers, periodicals, and professional journals, and has participated as a speaker in two hundred conferences, congresses, and professional activities. He has completed three hundred interviews in written and electronic media and has appeared on approximately one hundred public affairs programs. Additionally, Beaudet has contributed to episodes highlighting significant urban planning aspects in Montreal. His current research focuses on heritage, urban regeneration, urban morphology, metropolitan planning, regional development, mobility, landscape, and tourism planning. He is also co-responsible for the Sustainable Mobility Observatory at the Urbanism Institute.
